Expert craftsmen relying on centuries-old practice were brought into preserve its architectural integrity and pay homage to its rich historic ties. One of the most notable features about the hotel is the wall it shares with the Saadian Tombs, which were only revealed to the public in 1917, and restored having been hidden for several centuries. When guests step foot into the hotel, they are brought back to a period of time which had once been lost, but now lovingly revered.
Detail is of the utmost importance, with many elements meticulously crafted to honour its original history. The Riad Saadia exemplifies this commitment, whereby skilled craftsmen delicately re-arranged the intricate patterns of the zellige mosaics to mirror the original tiles.
To celebrate the zellige mosaics, the team at La Sultana offer guests the chance to try their unique lemon, fig, and cognac cocktail, ‘Zellige Cocktail’. Available at The Odette Bar, the rooftop offers panoramic views of Marrakech and the Atlas Mountains, the ideal place to sip and take in the beauty.

To do so, after years of refurbishment, they’ve curated a unique Living Architectural Heritage Guided Tour led by their in-house curators who divulge stories from the past and take visitors through the various design and craftsmanship techniques around the property.
