Kieron & Cullen knew instantly that Llangoed Hall was the perfect venue to host their special day.
What first attracted you to your wedding venue and what made you decide that it would be perfect for your special day?
It was the history and the style of it all. We didn’t want something modern or overly polished. We were after a proper country estate, and that’s exactly what we found. There was something magical about driving down that long path and being met with this delicate but striking façade. The front door gave me full-on Bridgerton vibes, even though it didn’t look quite big enough! It all felt a bit whimsical, and I knew straight away it was the one.
It was also a full circle moment for Cullen. He went to Aberystwyth University and used to drive past the building almost every week. So when I took him there as the first venue we visited (and, as it turns out, the only one – we loved it that much), it felt really special. Like it was always meant to be.
Can you tell me about your theme if you had one, the inspiration behind it and how you incorporated it into your wedding?
We didn’t go down the traditional route at all – apart from the building! We wanted a party, a proper celebration, and even went with a festival theme to reflect that.
As a gay man, being able to legally get married still feels monumental. It wasn’t something I could have imagined as a teenager. So when the time came, we knew it had to be a celebration in every sense of the word.
We wanted everyone glammed up and ready to party – it was important to us that it still felt posh and special, but with that relaxed, anything-can-happen energy.
How did your venue go above and beyond in ensuring everything was perfect on the day?
Jeremy and Abbie were absolute stars. I’m pretty sure they thought I was a bit mad when I first said we’d have 300 guests in the evening – but we did! Nothing was ever too much trouble for them.
When it rained first thing in the morning, we were all there together, moving chairs and tables around. I’m a bit of a control freak, so I didn’t mind mucking in!
They let us have street food, which was non-negotiable to keep the festival feel, and even brought in drinks they didn’t usually stock – just because they knew it mattered to us. That level of kindness and attention to detail made everything feel so personal.
Who was your chosen Photographer and why did you choose them?
That was always going to be Les. I’ve followed his work for years and loved watching his business grow. Every time he uploaded new wedding photos, I’d find myself clicking through and smiling.
I didn’t want anything overly cinematic or posed. I wanted someone who could capture the laughter, the chaos, the candid, fun moments – and Les absolutely delivered. If you look at the photos, you can see the joy in our faces. We laughed all day, and Les somehow caught it all, even the most touching moments.
If you could pick one word to describe your wedding, what would it be and why?
Expensive! (Only half joking!) But really, I don’t think one word does it justice. If I were writing a letter to my younger self, I’d probably say something like: “You’ll get your happy ever after one day. It might take a while to get there, but when you do, it’ll be the best moment of your life.”
